Foodstuffs and depression

Serotonin

A Serotonin concern to control biological rhythm, neuroendocrine, sleep, and body temperature.
The serotonin is made from tryptophan which is essential amino acids.
Human cannot produce essential amino acids in the body, So We have to ingest it from a meal.
The serotonin concern mood disorder, schizophrenia, and drug dependence of patient’s condition.
The serotonin control emotional information like a dopamine or a noradrenaline to stabilize mental.

Irregular meal or diet causes lack of the serotonin.
Lack of the serotonin causes a depression.
Undernutrition causes a depression
To cure depression , doctor use a medicine which is efficacious to keep high density of serotonin in brain.  


Tryptophan
Tryptophan make serotonin.

Soy-milk                   53mg/100g
Milk                        42mg/100g
Yogurt                       47g/100g
Processed cheese  291mg/100g
Sunflower seed    310mg/100g
Almond               201mg/100g
Meat          150~250mg/100g
Dark meat fish      200~250mg/100g

Foodstuffs which have a lot of protein have tryptophan.
So well-balanced diet is important to prevent depression. 

Glucose
Glucose is an energy source for brain.
human cannot store the glucose in brain, So we have to ingest glucose at fixed intervals.
    

Cholesterol
Cholesterol is the ingredient of female hormone.
To decrease female hormone causes to decrease serotonin.

Vitamin B group
Vitamin B group is essential vitamin so that metabolism or nervous system function normally.
Especially Vitamin B6 is necessary to metabolism of tryptophan.
To lack of Vitamin B2 prevent the working of vitamin B6.
Folic acid and niacin are necessary to compose serotonin.

Vitamin B6
Bonito(fish) ,saury(fish), sweet potato, banana, wheat, and garlic… contain a lot of Vitamin B6.

Vitamin B2
Liver, milk, soybean, Sardines(fish),and Saury(fish) contain a lot of Vitamin B2.

Folic acid
Rape blossoms, soybeans,strawberry,avocado, and liver contain a lot of folic acid.

Niacin
Cod roe,Bonito( fish),liver, and unpolished rice contain a lot of Niacin.


Magnesium
When stress build up in us, magnesium is exhausted.
To lack of magnesium causes depression.


Seaweed, fishes, pulses, and nuts contain a lot of magnesium.
